Climbing Conditions

The ACMG Alpine guides exam recently spent from July 26 to 29, in the Bugaboos.
Snow conditions continue to dwindle with the warm temps. The approach to Pigeon Spire via the Bugaboo glacier was still very workable but the larger crevasses on the upper glacier were staring open up.
We observed and heard several rock fall events with the daytime warming off of numerous peaks. Of note, while on Eastpost Spire on the 29th we observed a significant rock fall event off of the east face of Bugaboo spire where two of the largest pieces of rock slid 3/4 of the way down the crescent glacier towards the lake.
