Ski Conditions

Four of us completed Northern Cariboo Traverse yesterday.
Here is summary.

Trip Date
4/17-4/24, 2018

Where
Azure Pass to McBride (Dore River) *South to North
135km total, according to GPS tracking data.

Weather
First half (4/17-21) was unsettled spring weather with some precip up to 15cm up high and rain at valley bottom. Sunny day on 4/19.
Second half (4/22-24) was cloudy & sunny, temp stay cool except last two days.

Snowpack
Hasn't been reached Spring melt / freeze cycle yet.
Supportive MFcr on sunny side to the ridge top,
Breakable crust to dry pow on shady side depends on elevation.
New snow bonded well to those interface.

Avalanche Obs
Small wet cycle on 4/21 up to Sz2.5, nothing major.

Glaciers
Very good coverage up to 4m+

Route Info
We followed "2008 party's route described in Summits and Icefields".

- Could ski down from top of "Unnamed Peak (733706)" which is described page 219.
Boot packed to the summit from right hand shoulder to summit then ski into North side.

- 32km summer trail & logging road was very good shape. Took us only 6.5 hrs total.

Misc
Flew by Yellow head heli from Valemount, cost us about $2500
