Climbing Conditions

We had good conditions climbing Mt Victoria via Abott Pass June 12th. Travel up the initial buttress from the hut was mostly on rock, and the odd snow patches were avoidable. Where we did travel on snow we did not require crampons. Snow was moist, mostly supportive, and footing was good.

Mostly scattered clouds and smoke June 11/12 seemed to be holding the heat and not allowing for overnight freezes so we passed on Lefroy. 2 parties turned back from Lefroy in the past 48hrs due to isothermal snow.
