Rockfall At Outhouse Wall

Back Of The Lake

Incident Reports

Hello,

We had a close rockfall event today in Lake Louise at the popular Outhouse climbing area. The specific location was between Corner’s Inquest and School of Rock; same spot as previous where the tree fell and injured some climbers a year or two back. Fortunately the rocks landed just back from the wall but, nonetheless they were large enough to cause serious harm (shoe box and fist sized rocks) and worth sharing, especially given the popularity of this spot. Might be worth considering a new risk approach for this specific location. We avoided the specific area and warned others in the area. Another good reminded to where your helmets and be mindful of rockfall hazards in the Rockies.

Play safe out there!
