Ski Conditions

Skied some lovely corn on Jimmy Junior today.

With the warming trend in the forecast, we wanted something fun, but not too committing. The plan was to turn around as soon as the crust started breaking down with the daytime warming. We tore skins at 2691m, on a friendly looking bump just below the summit, at 11:41am.

As for temps, we recorded -4* at trailhead at 9am, and 13* at 12:30pm.
Additionally, I got the thermometer out while de-skinning, (is that a word..?) and recorded an air temp of 0*, a surface temp of -1.5*, and a T-10 of -2*.

Only signs of recent avy activity in the immediate area were point releases from steep solar rocky terrain, including a few that tore out to ground on the S side of Observation Peak. (directly opposite the N couloir coming off of Cirque Peak)

Also, ran into Neil in the parking lot afterwards, and apparently there is about a foot of fresh pow on the wapta from last night! Lucky buggers were just coming out from Balfour Hut...

Cheers!
