Glacier quite broken

Alpha-Serratus Col

Climbing Conditions

I just climbed Alpha Mountain from the Serratus Glacier via the Alpha-Serratus col, and found the glacier below the col very broken with lots of exposed ice (see pin on map and photo attached). There was even more exposed ice and and less snow bridging than last year at the beginning of September. It looked really tricky to navigate in and out of the crevasses and over snow plugs, so we opted to climb the 3rd class slabs on the left that are covered with gravel and boulders. On the plus side, there’s no smoke up here, it’s all below us.
