Climbing Conditions

Hi MCR Subscribers

I guided an ascent of the N Ramp of Mt Athabasca today for OnTop Mountain Guides.

Conditions are currently great on this route.

There is still a bit of snow in the gully that gains the glacier traverse. Dry glacier to the nunatak if you traverse low enough.

There is snow from the base of the nunatak to the end of the ramp with a nice groove across the latter offering secure travel.

From the top of the ramp nearly dry glacier gains the N ridge of the Silverhorn.

Clear skies produced a great overnight refreeze. We started early and had the freeze all the way down. Quick travel was appreciated by all.
