Beaver and Balu Valleys closed, Glacier National Park

Balu Pass and Beaver Valley, Glacier National Park, BC

Access

The Balu Valley trail in the popular Connaught drainage is closed due to a mother grizzly and 2 cubs in the area.

The Beaver Valley in the eastern portion of Glacier National Park is closed due to the number of forest fires burning in or near the vicinity of the valley. This includes access from the Beaver Valley trailhead off the Trans-Canada Highway, Copperstain, Caribou Pass, Silent Pass, and Purcell Lodge.

The Illecillewaet, Asulkan, and Hermit drainages remain open at this time, though smoke from forest fires to the west has moved in rapidly this morning and choked out most of the views.

Please respect these closures as they are implemented in the interest of public safety. Updates will be posted as they become available.
